MELVILLE KOPPIES NATURE RESERVE
Split into three sections, including Johannesburg's only inner city nature reserve, the Koppies host very important fauna and flora representative of the Witwatersrand Ridge ecosystem as well as important archaeological sites.
OPENING HOURS
Melville Koppies CENTRAL has CONTROLLED ACCESS and is open every Sunday morning from 8.00am to 11.30am.
FEES & PERMITS
Choose from a self-guided 5km hiking trail, a self-guided +- 3km heritage trail, or just hike along the many trails. A free map of the trails is provided at the start.
Pre-book a guided tour to learn about the Koppies history, geology, etc. on wendavid@mweb.co.za
Join a group guide-led 8km hike last Sunday of the month; leaves 8h30am sharp.
Visit the reserve website for up-to-date information on fees.
All funds are used for the maintenance of the Koppies by the volunteer committee which employs a 3-man conservation team who work 5 days a week.
