Kasteelpoort

The route up Kasteelpoort is one of the easier routes up the western slopes of Table Mountain. This steep route offers spots for epic views of the Atlantic, surrounding cliffs and quick access to the dams and one of Instagram's most famous rocks.

Setting off from Theresa Avenue, follow the concrete jeep track and the signs leading to Kasteelpoort and cross-over the Pipe Track path. The gradient steepens here and then becomes very steep going up the Kasteelpoort Ravine.

TRAIL TRIVIA

The Twelve Apostles were formerly known by Dutch settlers as the Castle Mountains ('Kasteelberge'). Kasteelpoort ('Castle Portal') today is the most popular route to the top of Table Mountain through the Twelve Apostles.
